Choosing the Right Water Filter

The kind of water filtration system that will work best for you depends on a number of factors, including how many people live in your home and what your filtration needs are. Water Softeners

Unlike water filtration systems, water softeners won’t remove contaminants and purify unsafe water. Softeners only address water hardness by filtering hardness ions out of the water. It also helps your appliances with water running to them, such as washing machines and dishwashers, last longer. Many water softeners are point-of-entry systems, which means they connect to the mainline and filter the water for your entire home.

Water softeners use both resin beads and water softener salt to soften your water. The water softener salt mixes with water to clean the resin container periodically. This removes hardness ions from the beads in a process referred to as regeneration. A water softener typically performs regeneration based on a timer you set as the user or through a demand-initiated regeneration process that monitors how much water has flowed through your softener.
