Four Steps to Choosing a New Water Heater
- Identify the Fuel Source: Choose a water heater based on the fuel source in your home. To understand the differences between electric, gas/propane and hybrid fuel types, read our buying guide.
- Choose a Type of Heater: Storage tanks are the most common water heater type. They have an insulated tank where water is heated and stored until needed. Tankless heaters don’t store hot water. Instead, they heat water as it passes through a series of coils. Direct vent water heaters draw air for combustion from the exterior of your home.
