Adding greenery can bring life to any space, especially in the bathroom. There are several considerations in order to select the best bathroom plants for your home. From bathrooms with bright light to selecting plants for a bathroom with no window, we'll share our favorite bathroom plant ideas.

Why Should I Put Plants in My Bathroom?

In addition to plants and small trees being aesthetically pleasing, there are a few additional reasons that plants are good in bathrooms.

  • There are some plants that absorb humidity, which can reduce mold and mildew buildup. Semi-tropical and tropical plants thrive in humid conditions and are ideal for bathrooms.
  • Plants can improve the air quality by filtering out harmful toxins.
  • Use flowering plants like lilies, gardenias and jasmine to keep your bathroom smelling fresh and fragrant. Hanging plants in the bathroom like cut eucalyptus will give a spa-like experience by attaching it to your showerhead.

Best Plants for Low Light

Powder rooms, bathrooms with low light or no windows can still enjoy the addition of plants. Low-light plants do best with 2-4 hours of indirect light each day. Here are a few houseplants that'll work in low light:

  • Air Plants
  • Calathea
  • Ferns
  • Ficus
  • Pothos
  • Prayer Plant
  • Snake Plant
