How to Make Homemade Cleaning Wipes

Cleaning wipes can be hard to find in stores and their cost can add up over time. But you can make cleaning wipes or DIY disinfecting wipes at home with the right materials. Homemade cleaning wipes are not only cost-effective but also allow you to control the ingredients, making them safe for your home. Here is a simple guide that will help you create your own cleaning wipe.

Steps For Making DIY Cleaning Wipes

Before you begin make sure to wear hand gloves to handle the chemical carefully without exposing your hands to it.

Take the measuring cup and put one cup of water (8 oz / 240 ml) and a half cup of isopropyl alcohol (4 oz / 120 ml). Add in a teaspoon of liquid dish soap. This will help with cleaning and can add a scent to your wipes.
Now add 4–6 drops of essential oils and mix the solution thoroughly. Essential oils like tea tree have additional disinfectant properties, while others like lemon add a fresh clean scent.
Slowly pour this solution into the airtight storage container.

Take the half roll of paper towel and put it in the airtight storage container in which you have procured in the solution.
Now close the container tightly. And hold the container upside down for the solution to be soaked into the paper towel completely. Take your time to ensure that the liquid is absorbed throughout the towels. After saturating the paper towels with the solution let the container sit for five minutes which will allow the towels to fully absorb the cleaning solution.

Open the container and carefully remove the cardboard core from the middle of the paper towel roll. As it softens from the liquid it should be relatively easy to pull out.
Once the cardboard is removed draw the innermost towel from the center through the hole where the cardboard tube was.
If you are using a standard wipe container thread the first towel through the container’s dispensing mechanism.

How To Use The DIY Cleaning Wipes

When needed pull a wipe from the center of the roll.
Reseal the container after taking a wipe to prevent the rest from drying out.
Use your homemade wipes on most surfaces such as counters, skins and more. Avoid using them on delicate electronic screens or other sensitive materials.
