How to Get Rid of Fruit Flies

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap to ensure it is tightly sealed across the top. This will prevent the flies from escaping. 

Using a toothpick, poke several small holes in the plastic wrap. These holes will allow fruit flies to enter the trap solution but make it difficult to exit. 

Place the trap in areas where you've noticed fruit fly activity, such as near fruit bowls, trash cans or windows. Fruit flies will be attracted to the vinegar and fly into the trap through the holes. Once inside, they won't be able to escape, effectively eliminating the fruit fly problem. 

Carefully add 2–3 drops of dish soap to the vinegar or wine. This will break the liquid's surface tension, making it difficult for fruit flies to escape. 

Place the dish in areas where fruit flies are a problem, such as near fruit bowls, trash cans or windows. 

Fruit flies are attracted to the scent of vinegar or wine and will fall into the soapy mixture, where they eventually drown. 

After cutting the bottle into two halves, add a small amount of apple cider vinegar to the bottom half. 

Make sure to invert the top half of the bottle and place it like a funnel inside the bottom half. Keep the neck of the bottle pointed downward into the bottom half. 

Use the tape on the edges to secure the two halves together. Make sure to secure the edges tightly with the tape.

Place the trap in areas where you notice fruit flies. Flies will fly into the funnel to reach the bait but won’t be able to fly back out.
