How to Make a Wall-to-Wall Headboard

Use 1/2-inch thick pieces of plywood for the frame. They come in sheets that are 4 x 8 feet, so we need two for our project.

Use a table saw or circular saw to cut plywood down to the size that you need. Join the plywood pieces together using a drill and steel mending braces.

It's time to cut the three layers that go on top of the plywood.

• First, cut the foam to fit the plywood. We recommend 1-inch thick foam.
• Next, cut the batting three inches longer than the plywood on all sides.
• Finally, cut the fabric three inches longer than the plywood on all sides.

Depending on how thick your fabric is, iron or steam it to get all of the wrinkles out.

Layer the Materials
Place the wood on the bottom. Next, add the foam. Place the batting on top of the foam. Finally, add the fabric on top. Carefully flip everything over.

Use a Staple Gun
Stretch and staple the batting and fabric at the same time. Work in small sections and pull the material tight so that the fabric doesn't sag. Cut any excess batting and fabric.

Finally, we'll show you how to attach the headboard to the wall.

Line several D-rings across the back of the headboard. Make sure they're at the same height. Drill each one into the back of the plywood. Hang your headboard and enjoy.
