It's no wonder sage green is everywhere right now. The soft muted shade of green is calming and tranquil. It's quickly becoming a timeless classic that blends with almost any palette. From stylish accents to paint, let's explore six ways to add this nature-inspired hue to your living spaces.

Sage Green Throw Pillows

Swapping out your throw pillows is an easy and inexpensive way to try out a new trend or color palette. It lets you test the waters without diving in headfirst. Look for a patterned pillow that has the new color, sage green in this case, and a color you already have in your décor, like yellow or blush pink. This will help tie all the colors together. Once you have your patterned pillow it will be easier to incorporate other sage green pillows and decorative items into your home without them feeling out of place.

COST: Under $50 per pillow

Sage Green Accents

Small decorative accents like tapered candles, a vase in with a cool shape and tiny keepsakes from your travels, are great for adding color to a neutral palette. Find a way to tie the items back into your existing décor, like using gold candlesticks that match other accents in the room, will make your choices look purposeful and cohesive.

COST: $5 - $25

Sage Green Wall Art

Living room with a half maroon paint detail, blue armchairs and abstarct nature-inspired artwork.

Artwork is more than just something nice to look at. It has a huge influence on the overall look and feel of a room. Sage green is naturally found in a ton of landscapes and botanical prints. These typically have other neutral colors like tans, browns and blues making it a breeze to incorporate back into your space. Don’t be afraid to try something out of your comfort zone. Tie in your new artwork further by using it to help pull in other accents like a green throw pillow or mustard yellow blanket.

COST: $50 to $300, depending on the frame and size of the artwork

Peel-and-stick wallpaper makes customizing your home easier than ever. Just peel off the backing and position the pre-pasted paper on the wall, adjusting and scraping out air bubbles as you work. Start with small with one accent wall or the inside of a bookcase to add color and pattern. Sage green is a more muted shade of green, making it easy to pair with multiple color families from jewel tones to soft neutrals.

COST: $40 – 300 for one accent wall in a standard 11 x 12 room

Sage Green Area Rugs

Bright white living room with wood floors, white linen couches and a distressed sage green area rug.

Throwing down a new area rug will dramatically change your room. A cream-colored rug with a sage green design will brighten up your living room, while a darker distressed rug with hints of black adds dimension. If you’re not ready to invest in a new area rug, try out a runner or accent rug. You’ll be able to add small pops of sage green before fully committing to the look.

COST: $50 - $500, depending on the size of the rug

Sage Green Paint

We would never advise you to paint an entire room in a color you’re just tempted to try out without putting some serious thought into it. Painting may be a simple DIY, but it can be a lot of work. Tackling a small project like painting your fireplace mantel or a pair of floating shelves can give you that same punch of color. And if you end up not liking it or changing your mind in a few months, these small areas will be much easier to repaint.

COST: $20 - $60
