Jam nuts are lower profile hex nuts that are half as tall as a standard nut. They are often used as a type of locknut where it is jammed up against a standard nut to lock the two in place. Hex nuts are used to prevent shear movement and tension when adhering facing materials together with machine bolts. Perfect for general applications, you can also use them wherever a standard nut would not fit. Parts are zinc-plated for moderate corrosion resistance. Be sure to pre-drill any holes and to use washers and bolts that are a similar grade and finish.
