Variegated Pittosporum, commonly called the Japanese Mock Orange, is a compact-mounding medium-sized shrub with creamy-white grey and light-green variegated foliage. The rounded foliage of this evergreen shrub will have a semi-glossy to fresh-leathery appearance. In mid-Spring, this variegated evergreen bush will produce tiny creamy-white flowers that have a fragrance that is reminiscent of orange blossoms. Variegated Pittosporum is a low-maintenance shrub that will mature to 6-8 feet tall and wide, but can easily be trimmed seasonally to maintain the desired size. This Variegated bush is commonly used in the landscape in foundation plantings, mid-sized hedges, borders, mid-sized privacy screens, and in mass plantings. These are also used in woodland, Asian-inspired, contemporary gardens, and are also used in coastal exposures because of the above-average salt tolerance of this tough shrub. This shrub is noted to be drought tolerant once established and they need little to no watering and can handle times of little to no rainfall. Variegated Pittosporum will thrive and adapt to many slightly acidic well-draining soils, but soggy soils can be detrimental to the health of this plant.
