Mark Bowe, distinguished craftsman and star of the popular home improvement series Barnwood Builders, has restored over 500 historic pioneer structures—transforming old barns and log cabins into contemporary homes. Through this collaboration with Bruce®, Bowe aims to make the timeless appeal of reclaimed wood accessible to a wider audience and meet the modern needs of today's homes. This curated selection of solid and engineered hardwood flooring, Barnwood Living™, replicates the authentic weathering and unique character of aged historic barnwood. Each floor showcases a unique mix of color, texture, and wood species that reflects the rustic charm of reclaimed barnwood. Bruce brings Bowe’s vision to life with impeccable quality, genuine craftsmanship, and a durable, scratch-resistant finish—all supported by a Lifetime Warranty from the leading name in hardwood. Barnwood Living features a combination of unique textures: wirebrushing and saw marks. Authentic wood like red oak and hickory ages gracefully by nature and the lifespan of a typical hardwood floor can exceed 100 years. Combining these properties with irregular texture enhances the wood grain character and gives it a rustic, vintage appearance. Heavy texture can also help hide scratches, dents, dirt, and other signs of wear and tear, making it a practical choice for high-traffic areas. The process of creating a wirebrushed texture removes the softer wood fibers from the surface, leaving harder fibers intact which not only increase the durability but also provide better traction compared to smooth finishes and reduce the risk of sliping. Sawmark texture is a finish that replicates the appearance of wood as it comes straight from the sawmill, with visible saw marks left on the surface. Hardwood flooring will contain a mix of cleaner planks as well as character planks. Unique natural occurring character marks may include knots, splits, checking, sap, pith, mineral streaks, color variations, embodied cracks and variations in grain. These unique characteristics are normal and are not construed as defects. Markings vary within each species and with each width. Wood is a natural material containing distinctive differences in color, texture, and grain. Natural color and grain variation in raw material will dictate how the finished product looks. Room scenes, pictures and hardwood floor samples are intended as a visual guide reference and not as the actual representation of the hardwood floor itself.
