The Purple Homestead Verbena is a fast-growing deciduous discovered in the early 1990s, by two University of Georgia Horticulture professors on a road trip. The crowd of energetic purple blooms situated amongst silvery green foliage was unlike anything they had seen before. Touting a long and boisterous blooming period, you can expect to see the flowers of the Verbena from late spring or early summer to late summer or early fall. Popular uses include hanging baskets, cascading from mixed containers or over walls, ground covers and borders, and rock gardens. They are deer-resistant, rabbit-resistant, drought-tolerant, and salt-tolerant. They attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and Horticulture professors. Plant in full sun or partial shade with a moist and well-draining soil for best results.
