Cinnamon ferns are aptly named due to their cinnamon colored fibers found around the base of the plant. Fronds unfurl in spring to reveal rosettes of large, dramatic foliage that add visually interesting texture to shaded landscapes. Hardy in zones 3-9, these ferns easily naturalize and spread making them a helpful tool for erosion control. Divide crowns in early spring to further encourage their spread while similarly removing any crowns that extend into unwanted areas to control growth.
