Gorilla hair mulch is made from the fibrous bark of redwood trees. The bark is mechanically shredded and the result is fibrous, tufted mulch that makes an aesthetically pleasing flower bed cover that is different than more traditional forms of mulch. The gorilla hair mulch allows water through to the roots of surrounding plants and flowers without letting it evaporate too quickly. This mulch is also useful for warming roots in winter and keeping the ground cooler in summer. Like all mulches, gorilla hair mulch protects the plant roots and preserves topsoil from erosion.
