First it’s the generous white texture on the foliage, like so much layered, sticky frosting over a green base. Next is the delectably reddish, touch-friendly leaf edges, followed by the attractively star-shaped, somewhat upright form. Spend a few moments with Aloe ‘Candy Cane’ PPAF and it may seem as if this small ornamental hybrid aloe was created to be a potted succulent-leaved version of a sweet treat for your windowsill or patio. Well, pretty much. The breeder of Aloe ‘Candy Cane’ bred this tabletop aloe for its white leaves and saw too that the leaf edges reddened up rather nicely in bright light. The white-and-red color palette plus the reasonably upward growth habit gave off candy stripe vibes. So, with its candy cane-like appearance, this new hybrid of complex lineage was christened Aloe ‘Candy Cane’. The plant’s eye candy effect is magnified when it sends up a flower stalk of red flowers multiple times throughout the year. The plant produces pups but not prolifically. Aloe ‘Candy Cane’ is most apt to bloom when the weather is warm and the plant gets adequate water. Bright light brings out deeper white color and bolder red edges. Your plant will arrive fully rooted with a 6” concrete pot. Because Aloe 'Candy Cane' is grown in the ultimate comfort and safety of a greenhouse, your new aloe may not initially display the boldest colors it’s capable of displaying. We recommend introducing it to stronger light gradually. It grows to 6 to 8 inches high and wide. Provide full to part sun. Protect from the hottest summer sun and afternoon sun. Water thoroughly when the soil is dry.
