There’s so much to appreciate about True Gratitude, an easy-to-grow, award-winning original hybrid tea that’s part of the True Bloom Roses series. True Gratitude’s 3.5” diameter blooms are deep magenta and highly fragrant, blooming from spring to first frost. This rose, growing to 6 feet high and 3 feet wide, has a large shrub habit but can be used as a climbing specimen as well. It was the winner of the Gilded Age Award for Best Climber at the Biltmore International Rose Trials in 2015. On top of its gorgeous 25-30 petal double flowers and glossy green foliage, True Gratitude has shown excellent resistance to disease. Excellent for the landscape and as cut flowers (imagine a vase full of aromatically spicy magenta goodness). Use as a focal specimen amid a mass of yellows or reds. Dig a planting hole of 2 feet by 2 feet, with at least 3 to 4 feet of space between plants. Roses do best in a well-drained, loamy soil containing organic compost. Water thoroughly after planting and water three times per week after new growth. Plant where it will receive at least six hours of sunlight per day. Feed during spring and summer with a water-soluble 20-20-20 fertilizer. Prune in early spring. Cold hardy to Zone 5.
