Deep bonds can be formed over gardening, and planting True Friendship is certainly one way to forge friendly connections with other rose admirers in your neighborhood. Part of the True Bloom Roses series, this award-winning floribunda is a prolific bloomer with warm yellow double flowers, glossy green foliage, and a compact growth habit. With its 3-inch yellow blooms, 35 to 40 petals each, it’s easy to distinguish True Friendship from the oranges, pinks, and reds of its True Bloom siblings. Growing to 3 feet high and wide, the winner of the Floribunda Gold Medal at the Rose Hills International Rose Trials in 2016 is terrific for smaller spaces as well as landscapes. The aromatically sweet flowers will win friends and influence neighbors as cut flowers. Excellent in borders, mixed groupings, open landscapes, and containers too. Dig a planting hole of 2 feet by 2 feet, with 2 to 3 feet of space between plants. Roses do best in a well-drained, loamy soil containing organic compost. Water thoroughly after planting and water three times per week after new growth. Plant where it will receive at least six hours of sunlight per day. Feed during spring and summer with a water-soluble 20-20-20 fertilizer. Prune in early spring to rejuvenate the plant. Cold hardy to Zone 5.
