Asplenium nidus, also known as a Bird’s Nest fern, is a beautiful fern originating from the tropics of Asia and Africa. Though Bird’s Nest ferns anchor themselves in soil, they are epiphytic, which means that they derive moisture and nutrients from the air. Bird’s Nest ferns grow in a full rosette shape with new growth stemming from the center of the plant. Bird’s Nest ferns produce dense foliage and are easy to care for. They grow best in dappled light or medium indirect light. They can tolerate low light but will grow more slowly. Bird’s nests should be watered regularly so that the soil doesn’t dry out, however, take care to let the soil drain during watering to prevent root rot. These ferns do best in high humidity areas such as kitchens and well-lit bathrooms or will be happy with a regular misting. Sold in our signature port-colored 6 inch grower pot.
