Originating in Tropical Deciduous Forests near the foothills of the Himalayas, the Ever Red Banana is a root-hardy variety capable of producing leaves 6 feet long or more. The dramatic foliage is lined with red and maroon streaks, set against the dark green backdrop of paddle-shaped leaves. Give them full to partial sun and moist, but well-drained soil to support growth. The Ever Red produces ornamental fruit with an abundance of seeds, but avoid consuming them as they aren’t very tasty. Plant them in the ground or containers to add an exotic flare to any location.
