The 'Nidiformis' is such a charming little conifer! Typically growing to about 2 feet tall and 4 feet wide, it's a delightful low maintenance addition to any woodland or formal garden. Interestingly, if treated with care, mature versions (those over 20 years old) can reach impressive heights of 5 feet and widths of 6 feet. With its lovely, dense, naturally globe shape and the unique "nest" formation in the center, it beautifully earns the nickname "bird's-nest spruce." For optimal growth, it flourishes in average, moist, well-drained soils and loves full sun. It enjoys cooler summer climates. It will struggle in the southernmost states.
