The Orange Rocket Barberry, from the Southern Living Plant Collection, is a vibrant pop of color in any landscape. This deciduous shrub produces brilliant coral-red foliage that matures to a dark burgundy-red as the season goes on. This barberry has a naturally upright growth habit, and provides fantastic vertical interest. Use it in a border, foundation planting, mass planting, or container. The Orange Rocket is hardy in USDA Zones 5-9 and will go dormant yearly for the winter. Plant in full sun to slight shade for best results. This selection is tolerant of most soils; however, good drainage is important. Water 2-3 times a week during the first growing season. Afterwards, this is a notably drought tolerant variety. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced fertilizer. ---------- This item includes Two 2.5 Quart Orange Rocket Barberry (live plants) in plastic pots with soil. The pots will be wrapped in a poly bag to retain moisture and hold any soil that shakes lose in shipping. The plant will be shipped in a cardboard box that has been designed to hold the plant in place to reduce any chance of damage in transit. As soon as the plant arrives it should be unpackaged, un-bagged, and watered. --------These plants ship from the Gulf Coast of Alabama. We recommend that customers outside of the southeastern United States order during the milder times of year (Spring/Fall) to prevent heat/cold stress during transit.
