Mugo Pine has short, rich green needles that form a tight, compact rounded plant. Deer tend to avoid this wonderful evergreen and its compact and slow growing habit make it ideal in a rock garden or as a container plant. There is little to no pruning required to keep the compact shape and combined with its drought tolerance once established, make it a very low maintaince plant. Hardy in USDA zones 2 to 7.
