P.J. Mezitt Elite Star Rhododendron opens the spring with lilac-purple flowers and welcomes the autumn season with foliage that turns to a plum-purple fall color. A true four-season shrub, especially for lovers of all things purple. Elite Star has a compact habit and evergreen leaves. Huge clusters of flowers appear in spring with four to nine blooms on each stem. Although the leaves turn to shades of purple and even orange heading into winter, they persist through the cold season and brighten back to green in spring. Hardy in USDA zones 4 to 8.
