Project Overview
Create a modern and durable 72-inch square raised garden bed using 28 pieces of the 18-in L x 3-in H x 9-in D Granite Concrete Nova Wall Block and construction adhesive. This garden bed, measuring 72” W x 72” L x 12” T, is perfect for growing a variety of plants while adding a clean, structured look to your garden. To prevent weed growth and improve soil retention, it is recommended to use landscape fabric to line the interior cavity before backfilling with soil.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Select and Prepare the Site
Choose a flat area in your yard for the garden bed.
Clear the site of grass, rocks, and debris.
Use the tape measure to mark out a 72-inch by 72-inch square area.
Create the Base (if not building atop an existing footer or patio)
Dig a trench around the marked area, approximately 4 inches deep and 9 inches wide.
Fill the trench with paver base or gravel to a depth of 2 inches.
Use the tamper to compact the base, ensuring it is level.
TIP: If you are building on top of an existing footer or patio, you can use mortar, mixed to the manufacturer’s specifications, to level the first course.
Lay the First Layer of Blocks
Begin placing the Nova Wall Blocks along the outline, starting from one corner and working around the perimeter.
Ensure each block is level and fits tightly against its neighbor.
TIP: Use a rubber mallet for this.
Use 14 blocks to complete the outer perimeter of the first layer.
Build Up Layer by Layer
Apply construction adhesive, atop the first course.
Then, start the second layer by placing blocks directly over the first layer, ensuring the joints are staggered for added stability.
Use 14 blocks for this second layer
Repeat to 4 total courses high, applying construction adhesive between each layer, to reach a height of 12 inches.
Install Landscape Fabric
Cut landscape fabric to fit the interior of the garden bed, ensuring it covers the bottom and sides.
Secure the fabric in place, overlapping edges to prevent soil from escaping and to block weed growth.
Final Touches
Backfill the interior of the garden bed with quality garden soil, ensuring it is well-draining.
Allow the construction adhesive to cure, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Plant Your Garden
Fill the raised bed with your chosen plants, organizing them according to their sunlight and watering needs.
Tips for Success
Ensure the garden bed is placed in an area that receives the appropriate amount of sunlight for your plants.
Water your plants regularly and maintain the soil to ensure a healthy garden.
Rotate your crops seasonally to maintain soil fertility and reduce pests.
