Clear the site of grass, rocks, and debris. Use the tape measure to mark out a 36-inch by 99-inch rectangular area. Mark the central divider location, splitting the length of the bed into two 36-inch by 48.5-inch sections. Create the Base (if not building atop an existing footer or patio) Dig a trench around the marked area, approximately 4 inches deep and 9 inches wide. Fill the trench with paver base or gravel to a depth of 2 inches. Use the tamper to compact the base, ensuring it is level. TIP: If you are building on top of an existing footer or patio, you can use mortar, mixed to the manufacturer’s specifications, to level the first course. Lay the First Layer of Blocks Begin placing the Nova Wall Blocks along the outline, starting from one corner and working around the perimeter. Ensure each block is level and fits tightly against its neighbor. Use 13 blocks to complete the outer perimeter of the first layer. For the central divider, use 1 block aligned perpendicular to the outer edges, in the cavity, to separate the bed into two sections. Apply construction adhesive between each block to secure them in place. Build the Second Layer Start the second layer by placing blocks directly over the first layer, ensuring the joints are staggered for added stability. Apply construction adhesive between each block and layer. Use 13 blocks for the outer perimeter and 1 block for the central divider (placed perpendicular to the long edge, in the interior cavity), making up 14 blocks for this layer. Final Touches Place landscape fabric to cover the interior cavity. Allow the construction adhesive to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions. Plant Your Garden Fill each section of the raised bed with quality garden soil. Plant your chosen flowers, herbs, or vegetables in each section.
