Laundry Room Cabinets
If you’ve got the space, cabinets are the best way to organize your laundry room. Upper cabinets above your washer and dryer are perfect for storing detergents, dryer sheets, and cleaning supplies. Lower cabinets can help store large towels, rags, and gallon size containers. Cabinets will keep your laundry room looking clean and organized and conceal cleaning products away from kids and kept behind closed doors.
Laundry Room Shelves
When your laundry room space is limited and you don’t need a lot of storage, shelves can be the answer to your organization woes. The benefits of open shelving allow you to take instant inventory of where everything is, so you don’t have to blindly open cabinets to find that one missing spray bottle. With open shelves you’ll need to make sure they are kept clean to avoid visual clutter.
Laundry Pedestal with Drawer
A laundry pedestal raises the height of your washer and dryer which makes it more comfortable to load and unload clothing. Some pedestals take advantage of the open space below your appliance and include a drawer for storage. This hidden storage space is surprisingly large, so if you don’t have room for cabinets or shelving, a pedestal with a storage drawer is a great solution.
Utility Carts
Utility carts are available in all shapes and sizes. They're ideal for creating usable organization in unusual spaces. There's probably a cart to fit the tight area between your sink and the wall as well as the odd cut-out in the corner of your laundry room.
Some carts have wheels for easier mobility, while others include baskets and hanging bars for drying clothes. There is nothing permanent about utility carts, so when you decide you no longer need them, just use them in another room.
Over-the-Door Storage Hooks
These hooks provide handy storage for drying damp towels, hanging delicate clothing, and can also serve as a broom holder. They’re easy to install by simply placing them over the top of a door. Like utility carts, when you no longer need the hooks, just move them to another room of the house.
Drying Racks
Drying racks have evolved, and now they’re usually made of durable steel and can be folded and stored when not in use. They work better for drying clothes as opposed to using a hanger to finish the job. Save space in your laundry room by utilizing a drying rack on your next load.
Laundry Carts and Hampers
Organizing a laundry room extends to clothing as well. The best way to separate whites, darks, and delicates is by using a laundry cart or hamper. Roll these carts from room to room collecting and separating clothes for easy entry into the washer. By using a laundry cart, you (and your kids) have no excuses for keeping dirty clothes off the floor.
Small Storage Bins
Storage bins are great for keeping track of small items like clothespins and washing pads and large items like cleaning sprays and scrub brushes. Storage bins are available in all sizes to fit all manner of shelving. Some can even be stacked on the ground or under sinks if needed.
