If you're looking to shake up your interior décor, think about adding in a wall niche. These decorative boxes are used to display statues, vases, books or other prized items in your home. Hallways, dining rooms, bathrooms and shrines are all great places to install a wall niche.
Order a surface mount wall niche and install the niche directly over the wall like an added shelf. Recessed niches will require you to remove a part of your wall, but you get an appealing end result — most of the niche is inside the wall, rather than sticking out of it. A towel rack in the bathroom or a display shelf in the dining room are just a couple of recessed wall niche ideas to consider.
Niches typically come in neutral hues for a nice, classical look. If you wish to paint over a niche, be sure to get one that's pre-primed. If not, you'll need to use an oil primer first, then paint it your desired shade.
